The Olsen Twins' House Full of Sweets

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen obviously have many things in common since they are twins.  One of the most important things is that they both share a sweet tooth for all things sweet.  These sweethearts have been around since birth and made so many unforgettable moments on camera.  They also came out with a series of mystery novels and one must read is "The Case of the Candy Cane Clue", just because it has candy in the title!

Ashley loves Twizzlers, Sour Patch Kids, Sour Worms, and Tootsie Rolls.  Mary "Candy" is a fan of Tootsie Rolls and Swedish Fish.  Can you believe that her and Justin Bieber have the same tastebuds when it comes to Swedish Fish?  Such a small world.  I have to say that I am on Ashley's side when it comes to her taste in candy...I love sour candy just like her!

The twins haven't been on the big screen for the last few years and that is about to change next month with Mary Kate's movie, Beastly that is coming out.  I'm sure while she was on set she requested Tootsie Rolls and Swedish Fish to munch on during her breaks!  I have loved the twins since they played Michelle on Full House and the fact that they love candy makes me love them even more!

Cotton Candy Martinis

It's Thirsty Thursday, so you know what that means!  If you work full time, you should be winding down with a cocktail after a long day at work.  If you are still in college, you should be preparing your tastebuds for a magnificent elixir, because everyone knows that in college, weekends start on Thursday.

Many people enjoy eating candy and drinking alcohol so I decided to mix the two together since his blog is all candy all the time.  After perusing the web, I found this extraordinary martini that I wanted to share called the Cotton Candy Martini.

It is a perfect drink of choice to celebrate the ending of a week.  It's sweet, bubbly, colorful, and topped off with sugar and actual cotton candy on the rim!  There's no better way to wind down with your family, friends, or significant others than by sipping a Cotton Candy Martini!  Everyone deserves one.  Cheers!

Ingredients
  • Raspberry flavored vodka, 2 oz
  • Chambord (Raspberry liqueur), 1 oz
  • Grenadine, a splash
  • Champagne, a splash
  • Pink cotton candy, a generous chunk
  • Crushed ice
  • Sugar
 Directions

  • Chill your martini glasses, then moisten the rims. Spread the sugar onto a plate and then invert the glass onto it to get an evenly sugared rim. Set aside.
  • Place the ice in a cocktail shaker, then pour over the vodka and Chambord. To this, add a generous splash of grenadine, and champagne.
  • Shake well for at least a minute.
  • Strain the mixture into the martini glasses, taking care to avoid the sugared rim.
  • Garnish with the cotton candy.
Thanks to http://momsinthecitycocktails.blogspot.com/2010/09/candy-martinis.html for the yummy idea!

Constant Courtside Candy for Lamar Odom

Every since he was a kid, Lamar Odom has had a sweet tooth.  His kids think he is a hero for always having candy in the house.  Everyday is Halloween for the Odom family.  Odom has got a lot of sour remarks from others about his candy addiction.

Non sweet toothed individuals think that his candy consumption affects his performance on the court.  In response to those remarks, Odom admitted the games he played well in were the same times he ate candy for breakfast.  He also defends himself saying that he doesn't eat whole bags of candy and no one is capable of that.  He eats candy every day, and even wakes up during the night to fulfill his sweet tooth.

Fans know that he is a candy lover and send him lots of candy to munch on at the games.  Other teammates like Kobe Bryant are happy that he shares the wealth.

His favorite type?  Hershey's white chocolate cookies and cream.  Close seconds are Gummy Bears, Twizzler Bites, Sour Peach Rings, Jellybean Starbursts, and Lifesavers, just to name a few.

Khloe isn't too bothered by his sweet tooth, except when he brings it into the bedroom.  She said that one night, he treated himself to chocolate covered almonds, fell asleep mid bite, cuddled with her, and Khloe woke up with chocolate all over her.  So think about it for a minute.  If an NBA player, who is married to a Kardashian, is still successful, healthy, and doesn't have too many cavities can eat candy daily, you can too!

Truffle Tuesday

In the mood for baking something delicious?  Then I'd like to introduce you to the newest term that is the most necessary part of building your weekly vocabulary.  Truffle Tuesday.  Truffle Tuesday is defined as the most fashionable and delectable fad in the world, and should be practiced by everyone.  You might be thinking that Tuesday is trademarked as Taco Tuesday, or some even have Tutu Tuesdays, but you can still do all of these routines and add one more to the list.  Nothing sounds better than dressing in a tutu, eating a taco, and finishing the meal and day off with a truffle.  My sister and I made these last Tuesday and they turned out absolutely phenomenal (the above picture is real proof of how delicious they look).  It is such an easy recipe and from now on, every Tuesday should be Truffle Tuesday.  Everyone that tries the truffles loves them and the best part about them is that they were super easy to make.  Each truffle is a little bite of Heaven, especially for you Chocolate Lovers!  They are very rich but eating one truffle is the perfect dessert after any meal, even breakfast.  So whip up some Truffles, and when they are ready, pop one into your mouth and be prepared to create a party for your tummy.

Here's the recipe for Oreo Truffles:

1 (16 oz) package OREO Cookies, divided
1 (8 oz) package PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
2 (8 oz) packages BAKER'S Semi-sweet Baking Chocolate, melted

Makes 3 1/2 dozen

Directions
1.  Crush 9 of the cookies to fine crumbs in food processor; reserve for later use.  (Cookies can also be finely crushed in a resealable plastic bag using a rolling pin.) Crush remaining 36 cookies to fine crumbs; place in medium bowl.  Add cream cheese; mix until well blended.  Roll cookies mixture into 42 balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
2.  Dip balls in chocolate; place on wax paper covered bakign sheet.  (Any leftover chocolate can be stored at room temperature for another use.)  Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs.
3.  Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.  Store leftover truffles, covered, in refrigerator.

California Gurlz + Katy Perry= Candyfornia

Katy Perry gets huge props for creating the extraordinarily sugary land of Candyfornia.....Talk about eye candy!  If you haven't seen this candy lover's dream come true video, you have to watch it.  Katy said this is a must see when you've got the munchies because everything's edible.  A forest full of taffy trees, lollipop flowers, cotton candy clouds, and walking gummy bears are just a few of the sweetest temptations the land of Candyfornia depicted.

She and Sugar Daddy Snoop Dogg are actually playing Candyland on their real life board made out of Graham Cracker squares, gingerbread houses, cupcakes, and ice cream cones.  Their outfits are so scrumptious, especially the Dot Candy dress, and Snoop's cupcake suit.  Who wouldn't want to be him as he leads the parade of Gummy Bears?  This is the sweetest music video on Earth.  The bright colors and abundant amounts of candy make it such a fun and divine way to hit that sweet spot and make your mouth water.  This video will put anyone in a good mood because it is so magically delicious!

Let's all move to Candyland!

The game Candyland is one of the best board games ever made.  No other game lets you go on an adventure through the Candy Cane Forest and climb to the top of the Gum Drop Mountains.  This rainbow colored game is always a fun way to brighten up your day no matter what age you are.

Candyland was invented in 1945 and for decades now, children have dreamed of residing in the Peanut Brittle House.  It's a game of fun and adventure and will continue to be enjoyed for the rest of time.  Imagine how cool it would be to move there and live in your own gingerbread house?  Chocolate windows, licorice doors, and smarties stones leading up to the house would be a dream come true.

If we all just moved to Candyland the world would be so much sweeter!  So dust off your Candyland board game today and make today a Sweet Saturday night by playing this enchanting game and bringing back all your childhood memories.  Don't forget to hand out some candy to all the players during the game because your mouth will be watering!

Bieber's Got Candy Fever

Celebrities.  They're just like us!  They even eat candy and are addicted to sweets just like us!  Isn't that crazy to think that you can be eating a bag of Swedish Fish at the same time as Justin Bieber?  In a recent article, J Bieb explained that his candy of choice now is Swedish Fish.  He's got quite the sweet tooth and isn't afraid to admit it.  He likes to request them in his dressing room right before he hits the stage and hears the girls scream.

Bieber's favorite used to be Sour Patch Kids...just like me!  He was so addicted to them that he ate way too many because his fans kept bringing them to him and eventually he overdosed on SPK's. Unfortunately for the SPK company, he's had enough in his lifetime that he will not touch them again, and now, it's all about the Swedish Fish.  Those red, chewy fish are quite enjoyable but in my opinion, do not hold the candle to the beloved Sour Patch Kids.

My siblings and I have had many Sour Patch Kids experiences in our time and there were days when we ate too many and our tongues became "raw".  Our taste buds were raised and the color of our tongue was usually red or green.  That was the point when we knew we had to cut ourselves off and close the bag.

I'm sure Bieber's tongue became raw as well, and he gave up on SPK's forever.  As for me, when my tongue becomes raw, I give it a sour candy break for a few days and pick back up where I left off, because everything is good for you in moderation!

Valentine's Day Candy

Happy Valentine's Day!  Valentine's Day is all about love, flowers, and of course, candy.  Handing out those red heart shaped chocolate boxes are an extremely popular and easy way to say "I love you".

I personally prefer a bag of sour candy, or anything really besides chocolate, which I did indeed receive.  Just so you know, I do like chocolate, but my pallet prefers sour, sweet, and tart tastes.  My amazingly thoughtful boyfriend surprised me with a box full of the best of the decade: 90s edition candy.  It was an awesome surprise and perfect way for me to fulfill my sweet tooth.

Candycrate.com has unique gifts for Valentine's Day and other occasions, but the coolest part is that they have Retro Candy Gift boxes from each decade from 1940-1990.  My box was filled with candy from my childhood including Sour Patch Kids, Nerds, Pop Rocks, Shock Tarts, Airheads, Ring Pops, Push Pops, Now and Laters, Baby Bottle Pops and many more!  Seeing all of these types of candies brought back lots of fun memories of going to candy stores in New Jersey.  So if you know someone who has a sweet tooth like I do, the Retro candy boxes from Candycrate.com are a great way to brighten up someones day and bring back those nostalgic feelings of childhood!
