Ghost Rice Krispie Pops

Boo! Happy October!  Halloween is just a few weeks away.  Want a fun, easy, adorable, and delicious spooky treat idea?  Today, I'm going to tell you how to make Ghost Rice Krispie Pops!  Don't be scared, these are the friendliest ghosts around, just like Casper!

Here's what you need:

Rice Krispie Treats
White Chocolate chips
Sprinkles
Lollipop Sticks
Clear wrappers
Twist ties

Instructions:

Whip up a batch of Rice Krispie Treats from scratch, or do it my way, and buy the individually wrapped and already made Rice Krispie Treats.  This way you can unwrap, cut, and dip!

Either way, cut a square Rice Krispie Treat into a square shape.  Then, round off the top edges to resemble a ghost.  Just cut two little triangles on the two top corners, smoothing the edges so it's a nice, round shape.  You can even cut different shapes, by cutting the top two corners, keeping a sharp edge, to resemble a grave shape.

Then, pour about 1 cup per 3 ghosts of white chocolate chips.  Melt the chips either on the stovetop or microwave.  I ended up microwaving them for 2 minutes today, stopping the timer and stirring a few times in between.

Make sure your Rice Krispies are prepared before you melt the white chocolate chips because you have to dip them fast before the chocolate hardens.  Then, take each Rice Krispie Treat, dip it in the chocolate until it covers a little over 1/2 of the treat on both sides.

Then, take two circle sprinkles, I used blue this time, as the eye and place them in the center of the treat, close together, for two spooky eyes.  Make sure you do this before the chocolate hardens as well.

Next, let them sit for about 10 minutes to completely harden.  Stick the lollipop stick right in the middle of the bottom of the treat.  Push it in enough so the stick is secure and will hold up the ghost.

Then, take the clear wrapper, bought from any craft store, stuff the pop inside, then use the twisty tie to hold it all together.  And voila, you've got the cutest little edible ghosts!

These are perfect for a Halloween party favor, a fun craft to do with your kids, and even a great treat for Trick-or-Treaters.  Kids will love them!  Enjoy!  Happy Halloween!

Cocktail Inspired Candy

Going to a girls night out or Bachelorette party and want a fun treat that everyone will love?  Why not bring some cocktail inspired candies and share with your friends!?!  Sugarfina's got the perfect mix of cocktails and candy!  It's a super cute congratulatory gift or something to give just because girls just want to have fun!

Just needed to start this off by saying as soon as I got this package delivered, I was so impressed by the packaging!  It came with a handwritten note, a menu of what was included, and I loved the sleek blue look and font they used at Sugarfina, very classy!

Time to raise your glasses to Sugarfina, while you read my take on these cocktail inspired candies and then order some for yourself!

First was the Cuba Libre.  These puppies tasted like you are sipping on coke and rum and say so what I'm drunk because it's the freaking weekend and you're about to have you some fun!  They definitely got you in the party mood and had a rum after taste. They had a coke scent, were gummy and chewy, and a bit of a spice from the rum flavor.  Bottoms up!

Next was tied for my favorite, the Champagne Bears.  They came in two colors, one was a golden hue, like original champagne, while the other was pink, resembling a pink champagne.  They smelled like champagne and tasted bubbly.  The gold color was juicy, full of flavor, chewy, and had a champagne aftertaste.  When eating them, I felt like I was just cheers-ing my closest friends after a heartfelt toast.  The pink gummy was sweeter than the gold, was also chewy, and super juicy.  When eating two at once of both colors, it tasted like drinking a gulp of champagne.  The two colors mixed well together, but the gold color definitely overpowered the pink bear.

Then I tried the Champagne Bubbles.  First of all, they looked adorable.  Little circular sweets covered with nonpareils.  Oh so white and so pure.  I could not wait to try these.  When these bubbles hit my mouth, I automatically tasted the sweetness.  They were crunchy from the nonpareils, while slightly chewy and smooth on the inside.  They were extra juicy and tasted like a hint of champagne and the flavor stayed with me even after I finished.  They were definitely more crunchy than smooth.  They reminded me of Smarties, and who doesn't like Smarties?

As for the Martini Olive Almonds, they were cute little olive lookalikes made out of white chocolate.  I loved the green outside and the red dot to resemble the red pimiento in a real green olive.  Super cute!  These had a bit of a frosting type flavor.  They were white chocolate covered almonds with a smooth outside and a crunchy middle.  I almost dropped mine right into a martini, just for the fun of it!

The Belgian Ale Pints were definitely for the beer lovers out there.  A strong beer scent immediately hit my senses as soon as I opened the package.  They looked like a cute little beer gummy with the dark brown and white foam at the top, and tasted like it as well!  It definitely had the cola, beer, and alcohol flavor.  They were chewy gummies that were super potent, and each chew tasted like you were sipping on a beer, while relaxing on the beach.  There was a strong beer aftertaste, and any ale lover would love these!

The Cognac Vsop Cordials and the Single Malt Scotch Cordials were both very similar.  They were both round and brown and looked exactly the same.  Upon first bite, tasted like a whopper.  Once you kept chewing, you go to the juicy inside which tasted like you were taking a shot!  Both of the insides had a clear and somewhat sticky liquid.  They were both strong, crunchy like a Nestle Crunch bar and chocolatey and when you add the alcoholic flavor, you get a mix of both worlds!  Potent alcohol plus chocolate is the way to go when enjoying a night with your girlfriends!

The Absinthe Cordials were bright green and round.  The first bite tasted minty.  As my teeth kept chewing, I then came to a realization that they resembled an M&M with the thin layer of a crunchy outer shell, mixed with a chocolatey inside.  But the Absinthe Cordial had one more hidden layer past the chocolate that included the clear, juicy, absinthe flavor.  It was definitely strong, but not as strong as the Cognac Vsop and Single Malt Scotch Cordials.  It was like eating an M&M and taking a shot at the same time!

These were all great to try but since I love champagne the most, my favorites were the Champagne bears and bubbles!  So sweet, cute, and delicious!  I'd definitely recommend sharing these with your friends for a fun night out or in.  BYOB and have these on the side!  Thanks to Sugarfina for sharing these amazing cocktail inspired candies with me!

Candy Corn Oreos

Happy Fall y'all!  No sweets will get you more in the fall mood than Candy Corn, which is why I was so excited to see Candy Corn Oreos hit the shelves at Target!  I had heard about these last year but when I went to buy them, they were all sold out.  This year, I made sure to get them early.  As soon as I saw the bright yellow bag with big pieces of Candy Corn depicted on the wrapper, I was hooked.

As soon as I opened the bag of Oreos, I smelled Candy Corn.  The golden cookies were packed with half orange and half yellow filling and I was ready for a bite.  They were definitely very sweet, much sweeter than a regular Oreo.  At first bite, it tasted like I was eating a shortbread Chessman cookie mixed with Candy Corn.  Then, after a few more bites, I realized the Candy Corn flavor was totally just in my head and what they really tasted like were DUNKAROOS with vanilla frosting!   Exactly like them!  Then I just pictured myself eating the little Kangaroo shaped cookies and having the time of my life dipping them into the pool of frosting.  I loved Dunkaroos so I loved these cookies as well.  I do think it would have been cool to have the regular black cookies instead of the golden color to really bring out the Halloween colors.  Remember, orange is the new black! :)

The inside was definitely creamy and complimented the crunchy cookie very well.  Talk about a perfect balance.  The creamy inside just reminded me of licking the frosting off of a knife that's used to frost cupcakes.  It's so smooth and delicious and good until the last drop!

I'd definitely suggest trying these cookies because:

1. It will put you in the Halloween spirit
2. They're limited edition
3. They're super sweet and delectable

Happy Halloween! Boo!!!

Brookside Dark Chocolate Acai Blueberry

Today, I decided to try these Dark Chocolate Acai with Blueberry morsels after trying and loving the Pomegranate flavored ones.  And let me tell you, once you pop the fun don't stop!

The Dark Chocolate Acai with Blueberry are the perfect on the go snack.  You can pop them in your mouth anytime you're yearning for something sweet!  As the package says, they are made of dark chocolate which makes each bite super rich and sweet.  As soon as you eat one, they immediately melt in your mouth.  While consuming, you'll notice how soft and smooth they actually are.  They're slightly chewy and the dark chocolate flavor definitely overpowers the blueberry taste.

The blueberry flavor inside tastes like blueberry juice.  While indulging into each soft bite, you'll chomp until it melts away into your mouth and provides your taste buds with a delectable blueberry aftertaste.  They're also filled with antioxidants!  So there's no way you can eat just one!  These are definitely delicious but I do think I prefer the Dark Chocolate Pomegranate over the Blueberry flavor.  You know what they say, chocolate covered anything is delicious!  So go ahead and check these out you candy lovers!

Jolly Rancher Bites

I think I may have found my new favorite candy.  Want to know what it is? Jolly Rancher Bites!  I've always loved Jolly Ranchers, especially the Watermelon and Lemon Flavors.  When I saw the new Jolly Rancher Bites, a delicious mix of gummy sour candy and Jolly Ranchers, I was in love!  My mouth is watering just writing this because they are just THAT good!

First of all, they were soft, not too sticky and biting into them, they were juicy, and chewy.  They came in Watermelon and Green Apple flavors.  As soon as you bit into both, and chewed it for a few, there was a burst of the Jolly Rancher flavor gushing out like a Gusher.  Both the Watermelon and Green Apple bites both had that burst of the beloved Jolly Rancher taste and they were so delicious.

The Watermelon was a pinkish/red color and the Green Apple was a mint green.  Both tasted like a Blow Pop as well, with a bubblegum flavor.  They were both sweet at first bite, then slightly sour if you have two at a time, then the moment you add one more in the mix, it's SO sour. SO good!  They both had an amazing aftertaste, and were both delicious.  Having one of each flavor mixes well together, but I preferred keeping the flavors separate and doubling down on the same flavor, one at a time.

If I had to pick, I'd say the Watermelon was my favorite flavor, but they were both so delicious, it's such a close race.  If you love Jolly Ranchers, love Sour Patch Kids, love Gushers, love Blow Pops, you will looooove these Jolly Rancher Bites.  Give me more!!!

Lindt Chocolate Sticks

While perusing through Target last weekend, I came across Lindt Chocolate Sticks.  The wrappers immediately caught my eye because they had so much personality!  I've never seen a candy bar that says "Hello my name is" and "Nice to Sweet you!"  As soon as I saw the "Nice to Sweet you" they sold me.  So cute!  I picked out three flavors, Strawberry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, and Caramel Brownie.

Let's start off with the Strawberry Cheesecake.  On the wrapper it reads milk chocolate with strawberry cream cheese filling.  I'll tell you, it definitely tastes like a chocolate covered cheesecake with strawberry preserve on top.  It's super crunchy and you can even taste some strawberry seeds in the mix.  There's definitely a strawberry aftertaste and the strawberry flavor is definitely very strong.

Next is the Key Lime Pie.  I've always loved Key Lime Pie since I was little and my grandma would often serve it as dessert after dinner.  She'd either serve that or Lemon Meringue. Yum!  Back to the stick.  The wrapper defined this treat as white chocolate with lime and buttermilk.  I'm usually not much of a white chocolate fan, but biting into this tasted nothing like white chocolate, but bursting with key lime pie flavor!  This one was definitely my favorite out of the three.  It smells like key lime pie and cake batter, there's no filling inside, just solid white chocolate which really tastes just like key lime!

Last but not least is the Caramel Brownie.  It's milk chocolate with a hazelnut and caramel brownie filling, as the wrapper says.  It was crunchy, biting into it was caramel central, with caramel oozing out of the bite sized morsel.  It was extremely rich.  I'd definitely describe it as a mix of Cadbury Eggs and Nestle Crunch and throw a brownie in there.  It's perfect for a chocolate caramel lover!

All in all, these sticks got personality!  Each stick was made up of 6 morsels that can be broken off.  They each had words, phrases, or photos on them, including "hello" "nice to sweet you" "Lindt" a photo of lips, and hearts. Super cute!  They're a fun alternative to candy bars and got some pizzaz.  Try them and see what you think!

Grilled Peach Dessert

That's just peachy!  I don't know about you, but I love peaches! Lucky for me, my boyfriend's dad has a peach tree in his backyard and the peaches are blossoming like crazy!  And you know what that means?  Millions of peaches, peaches for me.  Millions of peaches, peaches for free!

Since there's an abundance of peaches and since it's summer, I decided to try a fun grilled peach recipe. I've never had grilled peaches before so I thought I'd give it a try and make a delicious grilled peach dessert!  Prep time is about 5 minutes max, with cutting the peaches and mixing the peach filling.

Here's the ingredients:
Peaches
Greek yogurt
Agave
Granola
Honey

I figured half a peach or a whole peach per person is a good hearty dessert.  To get things started, I washed the peaches and halved them like this:

I put them on the grill with the halved part facing down for 10 minutes to make sure they were warm, soft, and had some grill marks on the edges.

While on the grill, I mixed some greek yogurt with agave syrup.  I'd say about 1 a cup of the yogurt and 1 Tbsp. of the agave is enough for 6 peach halves.

When the grilling was over, I scooped out the yogurt, placed it in the inside of the peach where the pit once was and filled it with a big dollop of the yogurt/agvave mix.  Then I sprinkled granola on top, and finished it off by drizzling the top with honey, and voila!  You have this sweet masterpiece!  It's easy, delicious, sweet, and a healthier dessert option!

Enjoy!
